Our Staff

Meet our Vice Principal Marsha Seerattan

Marsha Seerattan has a Master’s degree in Education with a focus in Youth Guidance and a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Management from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago.

Marsha has been a teacher for over 20 years, with experience teaching high school, middle school and primary school. She is now the Vice Principal at First Baptist Christian school and manages our data and creates data reports on analysis of our students’ achievement and progress, oversees the teaching and learning, and works collaboratively with teachers to ensure that best practice is taking place in the classroom. She also functions as the SENCO (Special Needs coordinator), the testing coordinator, STEM coordinator and Head of Science.

Marsha is married and has two children-a boy age 11 and a girl age 13. What guides Marsha in her journey in education is her faith in Jesus Christ and the word of God that states that children are a gift and reward from God-Psalm 127:3 and they are like arrows in the hands of a warrior (Psalm 127:4). This impacts how she interacts, teaches, cares for, disciplines and communicates with students.

Meet our Deputy Director of Student Life Tessa Suckoo

My name is Tessa Suckoo and this will be my twelfth year of teaching at First Baptist Christian School (FBCS). My roles at FBCS include Deputy Director of Student Life, Literacy Department Head, and Literacy teacher for Grades 4 and 6. I am also the homeroom teacher for Grade 4, where I teach Bible, Social Studies, and Life Skills.

As a Caymanian, I am delighted to have the opportunity to live and teach in Grand Cayman. I grew up Cayman Brac where I completed my high school years and then moved over to the ‘Big City – Grand Cayman’. I pursued my love of art and earned my Associate’s Degree in Social Studies so that I could then go on to complete my Bachelor’s Degree from the Miami International University of Art and Design (Art Institute) in Graphic Design. Following this, I continued onto my dream of becoming an educator and I obtained my Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University College of the Cayman Islands.

I am a mother of two; 14 year old Caleb and 9 year old Hannah. Since I am both a parent of a First Baptist student and a teacher, I feel connected to the church and school. Teaching at FBCS with such an amazing group of people allows me to work on hearts and minds, to guide people in becoming God centered, empowered, literate, engaged, and creative individuals.

I am a passionate teacher who truly believes that all children are born with the ability to learn and grow. I believe that every child is different, and because of this, I strive to meet every child where they are at. Children need to realize that being different is to be celebrated, and that the ability to ‘think outside the box’ is truly an amazing gift. I try to instill morals and ethics into all of my students and encourage them to positively collaborate with workmates, and solve problems. I help and inspire them to try their utmost best and to keep reaching for the stars. “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13” It is my job a teacher to tap into a child’s passions and strengths and motivate them to do better and to continue to dream big.
