Animal Project

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

Dear Parents,

First grade is learning all about animals and the five animal groups: mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish.

Our next class project will require each student to create one (1) animal from a group that will be assigned during class, and tell me all about it.  The animal should be placed in a model of its natural surrounding/habitat (where it lives or can be naturally found).  The student should tell me all about the animal, including the group that it’s in, the food that it eats, where it lives, and any interesting facts that he/she wants to share with the class.

The project will be due on November 15th, 2010, at which time the student will present it to the class.  Each child should therefore be prepared to talk about the animal and answer questions about it.  Students are encouraged to be as creative as they want and have fun.  I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Sincerely,

Ms. Suckoo

VACATION READING RECORD

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Over our break, instead of assigning homework, Grade 1 has decided to hold a reading competition. We would like to see who can read the most books during their days off of school. Please encourage your child to read as many books as possible. Once they have read all that they can, they will then choose their favorite book and present it on Monday, February 22, 2010.

Happy reading!
