Social Studies Projet.     Cayman Plants and Trees.

Grade 1     Due: April 16, 2012. (After Easter Break)

First grade has been learning about many different plants and trees found in Cayman. We have been learning what plants are good for food, which ones are medicinal and which ones are harmful.

Our project now, is to build a diorama using plants, leaves, barks, seeds (anything found on a tree that is found in the Cayman Islands). This will be due on April 16, 2012. This project will be marked out of 20 (10 points for creativity and 10 for content). The word diorama refers to a three-dimensional model. One of the great things about a diorama is the variety of ways to display it. The Display is part of the fun and appeal of a diorama. Here are some Ideas for making your diorama display unique:

Ideas on the Subject of your diorama:

  • A person or character
  • A building (house or yard)
  • An underwater scene
  • A jungle scene
  • A cave
  • A tree house scene
  • A scene of a room in your house
  • Your favorite animal in its natural habitat (ie. Fish, bears, iguanas, monkeys and so forth)
  • An island

Remember; do not feel limited to this list of idea. Get creative and have fun!
