Happy Animal Habitat Project

Dear Parents,

We are almost finished with our Science Topic: “Habitats for Plants and Animals” which includes the different types of land and water habitats.  We are currently looking at “What Are Some Animal Adaptations?” The students are enjoying learning more about the different habitats and animals. As a teacher, I am motivated to see my students enthused about learning; their participation in class discussion is remarkable. To make this even more interesting we are going to learn more about the Animal Habitats.  Each child will choose an animal for his or her project and also create the perfect habitat.  Please assist your child with this.  Remember BE CREATIVE. Thanks for your usual support.

Due Date: May 2, 2011

 Yours truly,

Standardized Achievement Tests – SAT

Dear Parents

The SAT Tests commence Monday, April 11, 2011. This will last for the week with 2 tests each day.  I have been revising different topics relating with SAT and working with Practice Test Papers.  The students are working hard on the papers and are also identifying ways in which they can help themselves to be prepared and do well.

Here are a few tips that will help when doing the SAT Test.

v Be sure you understand all the directions before you begin.

v It is OK to be a little nervous, but stay calm and do your best.

v Listen carefully while you look at the problem and all the answer choices.

v Listen for key words and numbers.

v Read each question carefully.

v Mark the right answer as soon as you know which one it is.  Then get ready for the next item.

v If an item is difficult, skip it and come back to it later.

I have sent home a list of Interactive websites with topics that have been covered in class and will be in the SAT.  Please use them in helping your child be prepared for the SAT Tests which begin on Monday, April 11th.

As the teacher, I know each of my student’s strengths and weaknesses, both teacher and students have been working hard on areas that are most challenging and reviewing and strengthening other topics.

I have encouraged my students that they will do well. As parents, I know you are nervous as well, but please reassure them that they can do well.  I will be sending a Time Table for the SAT and practice worksheet. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to give call me.  The students are smart, brilliant and will do well.

Thanks for your continued supportRespectfully yours,Mrs. Lewis2nd Grade Teacher
