Looking ahead: Week of October 3rd

 

The week’s learning objectives for October 3-7:

  • Spelling:
  • Bible:
    • Verse: Luke 4:43
    • in class we are continuing with the story of Moses and the Plagues
  • Literacy:
    • Creating a story with planning, editing, revising, and publishing
    • Continue practicing sentences, paragraphs, nouns (proper and improper), and verbs
  • Reading:
    • Comprehension of and connection with text
    • Using context clues to build vocabulary skills
  • Maths
    • adding 2 and 3 digits
    • using doubles and near-doubles as a strategy to quickly solve problems
    • using a number line for addition and subtraction
  • Social Studies:
    • Creating maps with a compass rose, key, and scale
    • Vocabulay: the four cardinal directions (N, S, E, W), as well as the equal divisions (NE, SE, NW, SW)
  • Science
    • Compare and Contrast: Living and non-living things
    • Vocabulary: Shelter, survival, and nutrients

News/Reminders:

*Weekend Journals need to come back to school every Monday so that Ms. M can read the journal entries and reply with a secret message! Practicing writing is the best way to develop a love of writing 🙂

*PTF surveys have been sent home. Fill them out and send them back in for a free Dress Down Day!

*2nd Grade will be representing India in the upcoming International Night! We are looking for any parents with background knowledge or resources to help us prepare for this exciting event!

*Friday, October 7th is Fruity Friday for 2A and Dress Down Day for everyone (get those PTF surveys back!)
