Friendship Week Fun
During Friendship week we learned more of what it means to be a good friend, Mr Blake visited our class to discuss being ‘quality not quantity’, we did a trust exercise, made bookmarks and read to a kindergarten buddy.

In an Island wide competition Wade won first place for his ‘Revolting Rhyme’. Wade will receive a $50 gift certificate to Books and Books.

STEM fair field trip !
We had a great time at the STEM fair – exploring robotics, virtual reality and solving puzzles.
I think we have a few budding scientists in this group !
Global Read Aloud – Pax
We are excited to start reading Pax by Sara Pennypacker next week as we begin Global Read Aloud 2016.
This will run for 6 weeks and as we read the novel and complete various activities connected to this book, we will also be making connections with classes in Canada, the United States and Shanghai.

Today in class we had fun describing dreams, eating some treats and watching a ‘puffin virtually’ broadcast from the UK – all about Roald Dahl.

Rick Riordan Live Chat @puffin books
Grade 5 enjoyed watching a live broadcast from Puffin Books with the author Rick Riordan. Lots of Grade 5 students have read one of his books this year so were excited to hear him answer questions and take part in a live draw along.
Grade 5 create the Legislative Assembly
As we are studying the Government in Social Studies, today the Grade 5 class reenacted a Legislative Assembly meeting and created Bills to propose to each other, and then vote Yay or Nay !
