It is an exciting week for Kindergarten. We will be starting to carry home books to read borrowed from our classroom library and we will be taking part in the annual Global Read Aloud.

Last year I used Padlet to connect with other schools in the US. I read the book ‘The Trouble Maker’ to my Kindergarteners as part of the Global Read Aloud. The animals were somewhat unfamiliar to them as we live in the tropics. The children were interested in learning the difference between a skunk and a raccoon. They were surprised at the twist at the end of the story and concluded that the raccoon was the ‘real troublemaker’ since it took more items than the boy. They wrote in their Journals about a time when they were ‘a troublemaker’. I learnt a lot about my students from this! We also made a video response to the book about our favorite part of the story was so check it out here!

We are looking forward to the start of GRA 2017. Let the reading begin!
