Literacy Announcement Ms. Suckoo:
Global Read Aloud (GRA) 2019 kicked off with a bang this week at FBCS. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 are all participating this year as we join in this global literacy initiative.
In Kindergarten and Grade 1, students will be studying various picture books each week, while our Grade 2’s – 6’s will be busying delving into chapter books.
During GRA, not only will our learners be immersing themselves in the written word, but they’ll also be making global connections by meeting up with classes around the world to discuss each book. “Global collaboration is necessary to show students that they are part of something bigger than them. That the world needs to be protected and that we need to care for all people. You can show them pictures of kids in other countries but why not have them speak to each other? Then the caring can begin.” https://theglobalreadaloud.com
Parents, be sure to ask your child about the books that they’re studying and reading each day, or log on to the link below and read along with us. We’re in for an exciting few weeks.

Message from Mr. Holtzhouse (Head of School)
Every year at about this time, our church celebrates our Christian School ministry with a special Sunday called, “Education Sunday”. It is a wonderful time of worship and fellowship for our church and school families as we come together and celebrate what the Lord is doing through our Christian School ministry. I certainly hope that you can be with us THIS SUNDAY morning at 10:30am for this special service.
I’m looking forward to seeing all of our wonderful students sing for the congregation. They sound so great in practice! Following the service, please stay for our special potluck luncheon where YOU and your family are our special guests! You don’t have to bring anything except a hearty appetite and a fun spirit. See you Sunday!
