Message from Mr. Holtzhouse (Head of School)

Many years ago, I read a book entitled, “Encouragement, the Key to Caring.” It was just a short expression of a Biblical concept that is to be practiced within the Body of Christ. Encouragement. There are so many verses that address the use of the tongue. Proverbs 15:1 states that “a gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.” Proverbs 15:4 says, “Gentle words are a tree of life.” Proverbs 18:20 says, “wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction.” Proverbs 13:3 says, “Those who control their tongue will have a long life.”

My point today is that a little encouragement goes a long way. A simple positive word can make a person’s day. A purposed smile can lighten the load some may be carrying. Look around you, there is no shortage of people who are weighed down with the cares of this life. Many just need to come to the Lord. But even Christians need to be greeted with a smile, a word of encouragement, and handled with gentleness.

Be “that” person today. The one who has a smile on their face…the one that greets people that cross their path…the one that sheds light into darkness…be an encourager today.
