Numeracy Update- Jenna Snyman

As a whole school, Kindergarten to Grade 6, we are studying Fractions as the concept for January.

Learners in the lower elementary classes are being exposed to what a fraction is, where we find fractions in our everyday lives and how to represent fractions such as halves and quarter.

The upper elementary learners are building on prior knowledge and taking a deeper look into types of fractions, adding fractions and subtracting fractions.

As a whole school effort we also continue to focus on computation skills, as we practice addition, subtraction, and for the upper grades, we include multiplication and division.

Literacy Update- Davina Edwards

The writing focus for this term is opinion writing. We have also introduced the Nelson’s Handwriting Scheme, as it supports students writing fluency for grades Kindergarten -2nd grade.  Students are learning to use editing marks to improve their writing.
