Welcome to Grade 5!
Dear Parent,
I would like to formally welcome you to Grade 5 for September 2014 and tell you a little about myself and the Grade 5 classroom.
I have enjoyed teaching at FBCS for 16 years and during that time have enjoyed seeing many students succeed and flourish at our school. I completed my teacher training in England and am always working to update and improve my skills. My teaching philosophy is that every child has unique and special qualities and I strive to help them develop academically, socially and spiritually. The best thing about teaching Grade 5 is watching the students mature and expand their learning goals.
In the Grade 5 classroom your student will complete novel studies, read various materials and learn to improve their writing skills. They will also progress their Math skills, including long division, multiplication, fractions, data, measurement and probability. They will explore units in Science from physical, earth and life science. In Social Studies they will increase their knowledge of Cayman and the rest of the world. During our morning devotion time and daily Bible lessons the students will explore the choices made by people in the Bible and see how this can influence the choices they make. Grade 5 students will also enjoy lessons of Art and Drama integrated in to the curriculum.
I am excited to begin working with your child, and I look forward to partnering with you as we continue their education together,
