Grade 5

Dear Parents,

We have had a fun and educational week in Grade 5. In English the students have learnt about author perspective and read a short story on a community project. In Math they are continuing the unit on measurement and have worked on elapsed time - some students still need extra practice with this. In Science they have studied the Solar System and will be giving a power point presentation to class next Tuesday.

Please ask your child the following questions over the weekend -

1. If you go to bed at 8.15pm and wake up at 6.50am how long have you been asleep ?

2. What have you learnt about your chosen planet or star ?

3. How do you compare using adverbs ? When do you use ‘er’ or ‘est’ , or more or most before the adverb ? 

( short words er when comparing 2, est when more than two for example faster or fastest,

words with 2 or more syllables add more or most - more quickly. )
