We’re into the last few days of the school year! We had an amazing end of year field trip at Dolphin Discovery on Monday! Kappy, the dolphin entertained us with jumps, tricks and came and gave us kisses. Each child got to take home a photo of them and the dolphin.
Here are some helpful things to remember for this last week:
- All textbooks that may be home must be returned to class.
- Children will be taking all their workbooks etc. home so please have them bring an empty backpack or plastic bags to help carry their stuff home.
- Please come out to our whole school awards ceremony this Thursday starting at 8:30am. Every child will be given an award for their specific achievement during the year.
- Last school day for the year is Thursday 24th of June and it will be a half day.
May you all have a wonderful, restful and enjoyable summer. We look forward to seeing you back at FBCS for the start of the next school year!

Math - After the Math test on Friday, I noticed there were some key concepts the children still had not grasped. This was particularly so about finding equivalent fractions, comparing fractions and reading/writing decimals. Extra revision work will be done in class this week with the children resetting the test at the end of the week. For homework, children need to complete Chapter Review questions 6 - 26 and chapter test questions 1 - 16 found in the textbook on p438 - 440. Children could also look at completing Mathletics tasks, Rainforest Math activities and accompanying activities in the Practice Workbook and Textbook.
Reading - Children will be continuing their novel study work. Bookworms will be focusing on developing summarizing skills. Word Sleuths will be completing a variety of activities focus on the comprehension strategies of questioning, analyzing and some word study skills.
Writing - Children will be drafting their country report. A particular focus will be made on structuring the report with a strong introduction and concluding statement. A focus will aslo be made on writing paragraphs that answer their research questions, have topic sentences and are well sequenced.
Drama - our last skit will be presented in chapel on Monday 24 May. The skit is called Who is the Greatest and will be performed by Allan, Dinara, Jessica and John. As always, parents are welcome to attend our chapel services.
