Numeracy
Topic: MeasurementCompare Weight
Objective: The student should be able to:
• Use direct comparison to compare objects by weight.

Developing Vocabulary: Review Vocabulary: weight, heavier, lighter
Lesson Introduction:
Review the term weight with students.
Write the word weight on a sheet of paper. Read the word aloud and have students repeat.
Have students tell you all they’ve remembered about the word weight.
Ask students to use their imagination to do this activity. Ask students to compare the weight (using the words heavier or lighter) of the following objects by pretending to lift pairs of items shown. For example, have them pretend to lift an elephant versus lifting a cat. Have students pretend to lift a lunch box versus lifting a bed and so. (please see attachment entitled “Problem Solving Pictures”)

Listening Activity: Please watch the video link below, which explains heavy and light objects.

Learning Activity: Give students a book, e.g., Bible, a crayon, and a sheet of paper. Ask students to hold the book in one hand and the crayon in the other and say which they think is heavier.
Then have students compare the crayon and the sheet of paper and say which object they think is the lighter object.

You can compare as many objects with the students to practice the skill.

Task: Complete the activities on page 159 -162 from Ready Math textbook. Please read and follow all instructions.

Learning Activity: Please ask students to complete the bible quiz attached. Read all questions for the students and allow them to circle the correct picture/answer on their own. This quiz will be used as an assessment.

Literacy: Writing
Objective: Students should be able to:
• Fill in the blank to complete the sentences.
• Print his/her first and last names.
• Begin each sentence with a capital letter and use ending punctuation.
• Identify blend “Fr.”
• Sound the letters and put the sounds together.
• Spell and Write words.

Reading Activity: Children will complete page 40 in the (Journeys Reader’s Notebook). Parents, please read the instructions/words with your child.

Reading Book: “It is Friday”

And read the book. Children will identify the “Fr” words in the book.

Phonics: Fr”-sounds
-words that have the “Fr” beginning sounds- (Frog, Free, From, Freeze, Front, Frost, Frail, Fresh, Frown, Frame, Fruit, Fried, Fry, Friend, Frisbee, Freedom)
Instructions: Children will click on the link

and listen to the blend “fr” repeat the sound of “fr” and say the words. Allow children to write the words on paper.

Science/Social Studies
Please take some time each day to work on the Science/Social Project entitled “End of Unit Science and Social Studies Project.’ This project is due on April 6, 2020. Please send a short video of this project presentation to Mrs. Dawson via email.
