Reminders and Updates!

Dear Parents,
We are at the end of week two of the first term already! Where did the time go so quickly? I just wanted to update and remind you about a few things in Kindergarten this coming week.
Hat Requirement Begins Monday
Please be reminded that starting Monday (September 16) students must have a school hat to participate in recess. If they have ordered a hat, but are waiting for it to arrive, they may wear a personal hat to play. Students without a hat will not be allowed to play.
Homework
Homework is sent home on FRIDAYS and must return the following WEDNESDAY. You will find homework sheets in students’ blue folders.
Numeracy
This week the students learned about counting. They were building counting skills with numbers 1 to 5. Next week they will be learning to compare numbers within 5.
Science
In science, the students covered the topics What is Science? and “Living and Non – Living Things.” Next week they will be exploring the topic “Parts of the Body.” (outside body parts, purpose, and functions).
Literacy
In literacy, the students have been learning to write their names in D’Nealian Writing, learning to identify uppercase and lower-case letters in their names, learning about vowels, and building three-letter words.

God Bless You!

Good Grammar.

Grammar instruction has begun. We are categorizing Nouns. We have mind-mapped some familiar Nouns. This includes, the names of our favorite places, people and things.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Recycle Plant Area- We have begun to use our recycle plant role play area. Thank you for your contributions. Please continue to send materials (our focus is on paper and cardboard items this week).

Our Sport’s Day Fun.

Kindergarten students had a wonderful morning and demonstrated great sportsmanship. One kinder shouted, “I was the second winner, yay!” Even those who finished last showed determination and took it in great spirit.

They got really excited when they spotted a recycling bin at our sport’s venue.
