Numeracy
Topic: Measurement – Compare Length
Objective: The student should be able to:
• Use direct comparison to compare the lengths of objects.

Developing Vocabulary: New Vocabulary Length, longer, shorter.
• Write each word on a separate sheet of paper.
• Show each word to the student (s), say each word.
• Have students repeat each word.
• Have students tell you what they know about each word. E.g., students might describe a bus as longer than a car.

Listening Time: Watch the video on the link below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhHTGemRM_w (This video compares objects that are longer and shorter. It will give students a better understanding of how these vocabulary words are used).
Learning Activity: Have students locate a sofa and television in the house. Instruct students to use a measuring tool such as a toothbrush, a tissue roll, a spoon, a fork, a tube of toothpaste, or a bar of soap in the box/package to measure those two objects. For example, the students need to tell how many toothbrushes long the television is and how many toothbrushes long the sofa is.
After the students measure the objects, assist them in comparing the objects by using the words, longer and shorter.
N.B. The students need to compare the length of the sofa to that of the television. Describe it. Sample answer: The sofa or couch is longer than the television, or the tv is shorter than the sofa or couch.

Ask students to choose two other objects in the house; measure them. Compare them. (same as above the activity above with the sofa and the television)

Task: First, on a sheet of paper, ask students to draw a fish in the middle of the paper. (horizontally). Second, instruct students to draw a fish above that is longer. Third, tell the students to draw a fish below that is shorter. Last, ask students to color all the pictures drawn.

Explain that in today’s Bible truth, three men named Shadrack, Meshack, and Abed-Nego had faith that God could help them and that He knew exactly how to help them.

Please watch the videos below of the story entitled Shadrach, Meshack, and Abed-Nego” below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wP7Fv93Y8U

• What were the names of Daniels’s three friends, and where were they from?
• When King Nebuchadnezzar threatened to throw Shadrach, Meshack, and Abed-Nego into a fiery furnace if they did not worship the statue, what did they say to him?
• What happened after the three men were thrown into the fire?
• What did King Nebuchadnezzar learn about God?
Learning Activity: Complete the activity from the Bible textbook on page 61. Instruct the students to cut out the pictures. Read each of the following sentences. Have students find the picture being described and glue it in the correct box:
