Update: This week we explored the following:

Literacy:

Phonics: We reviewed vowels and paid attention to the pattern of vowels and consonants in words. The pattern we are looking at is the CVC pattern (Consonant Vowel Consonant), examples – 1. mat 2. tiptop.

Grammar: Subject and Predicate. Our main focus was on the Predicate and identifying the complete sentence with both parts.

Spelling: Students practiced decoding words by their letter sounds, and putting words into alphabetical order.

Writing: Students learned how to plan an expository writing, by using a graphic aid outlining step by step what they need to write.

Numeracy:

This week students worked with manipulatives and diagrams to represent place value. Students also used the place value table to do addition. They were introduced to the hundreds value, which we will concentrate on next week and writing numbers in expanded form.

Students will also receive a times table sheet to practice the two and five times tables.

Social Studies:

Students learned about using a map for direction and the different aspects of a map.

Bible:

We concluded our study about Abraham and his family.

Wishing you all a restful weekend.
