Letter to the Parents – 7/10/2016

Dear Grade 5 Parents,

Happy Friday !
We will still have our brief meting today in the Grade 5 classroom from 3 until 3.30pm for any parents that can make it and are interested in helping / give ideas –  for the International Night in November. Viva Espana !
In Literacy this week we have carried on with Chapters 1 to 5 of our new novel Pax. Please see our class blog for further information on the Global Read Aloud and the novel ‘Pax’. Today we will do a ‘mystery skype’ as the Grade 5 class try to guess where in the world our connecting class is ?
We have also studied subjects in imperative sentences and conjunctions.
In Social Studies we had fun making some Cassava Starch as we studied early settler life and what life was like back then in Cayman, in contrast to life today.
Here are 3 questions in case you want to connect with your child over the weekend about what they are learning in class –
1. What is the subject in an imperative sentence?
2. Give some contrasts between early settler life and life today in Cayman.
3. What has happened in the first 5 Chapters of Pax ? Who is Pax ?
Next week Friday ( 14th October ) we will be going on a field trip to the Stem conference – please sign the permission slip and let me know if you would like to join us.
This Sunday is Education Sunday and I won’t be going to my usual Church ( Sunrise Community Church ) – I will be coming here to FBC – all are invited and I hope to see you there. The students will be singing so if they can arrive about 10.20am – that would be great !
