Rick Riordan Live Chat @puffin books

Grade 5 enjoyed watching a live broadcast from Puffin Books with the author Rick Riordan. Lots of Grade 5 students have read one of his books this year so were excited to hear him answer questions and take part in a live draw along.

Letter to the Parents – 27th May 2016

Dear Parents,

Happy Friday !
This week has been a fun one in Grade 5 – we finished our novel ‘Out of My Mind ” and tried not to cry as we read an emotional chapter 🙂
Yesterday in Social Studies we reenacted a legislative assembly meeting and the class proposed bills to be passed – they had some interesting suggestions from ‘Houses for All ‘ to ‘Freedom of Websites in Schools ‘ 🙂 I will put some photos on the blog.
In Math I have been impressed as every student clearly understood translation, reflection and rotation. We will take our Geometry Math Test next Tuesday.
I am excited to listen to all their creative communication projects this afternoon.
Have a wonderful weekend,
God Bless.

We went on a Mission :)

Grade 5 enjoyed a fun and informative tour of the Mission House today. We learned more about the history of Cayman, including information about the first school, early building materials and what is was like to live in the past.

Thank you to our drivers 🙂

‘Creative Communication’ – Social Studies Project

Grade 5 Social Studies Project

‘Creative Communication’

You are to complete a project on the theme of Communication.

You could study any of the areas discussed in class – including early or modern forms of communication.

For example – drums, Egyptian hieroglyphs, telegraph, quill pen, Morse code, tape recorders, movies, television, the internet.

You can be as creative as you like with your project – you could make a type of communication, you could demonstrate a method or you could even invent a new type of communication.

Please include 2 pages of research and then whatever form you wish to present the rest of the project in is up to you!

Have fun! Communicate Creatively 🙂

The project is due Friday 27th May, 2016
