We enjoyed our first class field trip to the National Gallery. After a guided tour of the photographs of Cayman ‘yesteryear’ the students enjoyed making pieces of Art based on nature. Check out our art in the breezeway when you are next at school !
We have been having fun while collaborating on problem solving with our Grade 4 buddies –
Marcus, Andrew and Daniel represented the Grade 5 class at our annual school spelling bee. They did a great job spelling some very difficult words ! Well Done Boys ! Andrew won first place !
The Grade 5 class did a wonderful job of researching their chosen person and presenting to class.

Dear Parents,
I loved seeing the biography projects the students produced today. Very interesting reports, well presented and creative shoe box designs. Well Done Grade 5 ! This week the students are enjoying reading more of our novel Out Of My Mind and connecting with our partner classes around the world. They are working on adding and subtracting whole numbers, both with estimates and exact numbers. They have also completed some problem- solving with estimates and exact numbers. We completed our Science unit on Living Things and next week the students will choose an endangered animal to research with a partner in class.
The Open House is next Tuesday (15th October) at 6pm, I look forward to seeing you. There will be a chance to sign up for parent conferences, these will take place after mid-term break and you will also receive your child’s mid-term report at this conference. If you have started to think ahead to middle school / high school already – our school board president Uche Obi will be in my room at 6pm during the Open House to chat with you
Please ask your child the following questions to help review class time –
1. What are spiritual gifts ? How can you use your spiritual gifts ?
2. What did Melody want to ask the Wizard of Oz for ? What would you ask for ?
3. How did you do on the Mid-Chapter check ? How would you estimate this question – 89 + 62 ?
