Dear Parents,
We have had a hard working week in Grade 5 !
In Math the students have been continuing the Fraction unit with Ms. Babb , they have learned to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa, they have also been rounding fractions to the nearest 0, half and whole. They have also done some detailed work on problem solving. The Math test will be on Tuesday 1st April.
In English we have studied prose and written poems on the theme of Water.
This week we have completed the Social Studies unit on ‘Our Natural Environment’.
Next week the class will be doing some study for the upcoming Terra Nova tests.
Please ask your child the following questions during the weekend to reinforce class time –
1. Explain the four stages involved in Problem Solving.
2. What Industries did Cayman have in the past ?
3. Would 3/8 be closer to 0, 1/2 or 1 ?
Thank you as always for your continued cooperation in the education of your child.

Commonwealth Day Service – St. George’s Anglican Church

Keya and Abbegale represented FBCS at the service in observance of Commonwealth Day 2014. They did a great job of representing our school and we thoroughly enjoyed the service. The theme for this year was ‘Team Commonwealth’.

‘The Commonwealth is an extraordinary team : 53 widely differing countries united in shared values working together to further common aims.’
