Weekly Update 6 – 10 December

Homework – Because Christmas is coming up and because it can be good to have change of routine, this week’s homework routine is different.  This week the focus is on developing thinking skills.  The children have been given a list of Christmas themed activities each related to a specific “thinkers key” as coined by Tony Ryan.  For more detailed information on these Thinkers Key please refer to this website Thinkers Keys  Children are to choose at least one activity to complete each night for homework.  Written work is to be presented in their Inquiry book.  Their work and ideas will be shared with their classmates the following day.  The list of possible activities is in the clear pocket in the front of each child’s agenda.Literacy – Children will be writing a folk tale based on the Magic Paint Brush.  We will focus on writing a strong and sequential plot, describing the characters and setting and creating a good resolution/ending.Math – This weeks focus is on problem solving.  Children will be using the four-step plan (understand, plan, solve and check) to answer a variety of word problems.Bible – We look at the final commandment, number 10 – you shall not covet.  Our memory verse is Psalm 16:5-6Important Notes:
