During the first month, I like to collect information of each child’s learning strengths and weaknesses to help me plan my guided group programs. I will collect this information largely through observation and beginning of the year assessments. Some of the up coming assessments include STAR Reading and Math tests as well as a comprehensive Grade 3 Literacy benchmark assessment which targets reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and written language. Copies of these assessments will go home, need to be signed by parents and returned to class. I have the STAR Math test scheduled for this Thursday and Reading Assessments will be done next week. Monday – Spelling, Unit 1, Lesson 1, short “a” vowel sound, p8-13. Must be completed and handed in by Thursday September 8th.
