Homework 14 – 18 March

Monday – Accelerated Math activity.  Also Spelling, Lesson 21, words with oo or yoo.  Workbook p122-127Tusday – Math Test Practice, Chapter 9 of the textbook p418 – 419Wednesday – Reading (Novel Study).  Focus is to recap and finish off any missed work.  Children to ensure they have read chapter 1- 6 and have completed Section 1 – 7 of the comprehension booklet.Thursday – Science (Forces). Choose and complete either the Writing or Physical Education activity from Make Connections at the bottom of page 615.

Weekly Update

Math – Children will sit the first of two Measurement tests this week.  This test focuses on measuring length, showing understanding of both the metric and customary system.  The test will be Wednesday, 16 March.  The second measurement test will focus on weight, capacity and time.  This test will be held in a few weeks time.Reading – Children continue their work on reading Romona Quimby, Age 8 by Beverly Clearly.  This weeks focus is developing comprehension skills such as identifying the main idea and inferring – understanding why and how a character may act or feel.Writing – Children will draft and then publish their own comic books.  We continue to use the Read.Write.Think website to help us in this project.Science– We start to focus on force and motion.  Children will also define what “work” means when speaking scientifically.Bible – Our whole school focus is on understanding the two sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s supper.  Our memory verse is Ephesians 2:8-9.IMPORTANT NOTICE: PACE TREK!  Paul Staso, founder of Pace Trek is arriving in Cayman tomorrow and will be speaking in the chapel of FBCS at 8:45am on Thursday, 17 March.  All are warmly welcome to attend!

Music Test

Students will have a recorder playing test on Thursday, March 17th.   Please have students practice for this test.
