Weekly Objectives and Homework: November 25 – 29th

Hello! Thank you to those who were able to attend parent conferences, and students who braved it themselves! ;). We hope you all have a wonderful week and for those celebrating Thanksgiving, have a great evening celebrating togetherness, family, friends, and community.

Literacy

  • Reading – we will begin a new Storytown unit with a short story titled The Night of San Juan
  • Grammar – we will look at Main verbs, Helping Verbs and Linking Verbs
  • Writing – students will complete their fiction narrative writing

Numeracy

  • Students will review their skills in addition, subtraction, and multiplication and apply them to practical problems.
  • We will review how to multiply multiple digits; 2 by 1 digit, 3 digits by 1, 4 digits by 1, 2 digits by 2 digits. (column method)

Science

  • Students will learn to use their understanding of energy forms to compare and contrast how they are transformed and how they are converted.

Social Studies

  • Students will complete a Unit 2 Test  and work on Figuring distance in Maps

Literacy

  • Monday – Spelling Lesson 6 pages due Friday
  • Tuesday – Grammar workbook Pg 40
  • Thursday – Grammar workbook Pg 42  

Numeracy

  • Monday – Practical problems in composition book (+ and -). Due Tuesday
  • Tuesday – Mathletics, addition and subtraction logic problems. Due Friday                    We will review how to access these in class.
    • Totally Magic Grid and Navigate the Number Maze.
  • Wednesday – Column Multiplication, due Thursday   (Due to field trip, students lost class time). Homework is cancelled for now and will be moved to another day. 
  • Thursday – Study for test on Friday. Finish work that was started in class.                                         Practical problems and multiplication work in composition book.
    • 3-4, Skills Practice (#10-16 and #29-30)
    • Practical problems (5 problems to complete)

Science: Assigned on Friday from last week, due Monday. 

  • Science Video Activity:
    • Students will choose ONE topic for the videos
    • Write a paragraph:
      1. What did you learn about?
      2. Did anything surprise you?
      3. What is a fact you enjoy the most from the video?
      4. Do you have any questions about that form of energy?
      5. Was your KWL question answered?

  1. Friday – Addition and Subtraction practical problems. POST PONED till Tuesday, Dec. 3rd. Due to multiple lessons being missed this week

  1. Field trip on Wednesday, $8 cost from 8:30 – 10:30-45 at Mission House in Bodden Town
  2. Half day, Thursday for Thanksgiving: ASC available
  3. Monday 2nd December – Christmas Concert – students are to wear red or white tops and jeans
