Weekly Objectives and Homework February 10th – 14th

Welcome back to another week, check out what we’re up to this week

Literacy

Reading – This week we continue on with our Storytown reading unit and will study a modern folktale – ‘Stormalong’ and the focus skill will be text structure.

Grammar – Students will study Writing Sentences with Commas, More Uses for Commas and Sentence structure.

Writing – as we explore Persuasive writing this week , students will complete a ‘cold write’ – a pre assessment persuasive writing piece.

Numeracy

This week we will be reviewing our skills and methods in fractions, adding and subtracting like and unlike denominators. This will then help us as we solve word problems with fractions.

Science

This week in science we will focus on a specific form of energy, electricity. This will how electricity is used through circuits and the core areas of how circuits flow. I would encourage students to be taking text books home to review content and to be familiar with vocabulary. There will be a quiz on circuits next week, Wednesday!

Bible

This week we will complete our unit on Ruth and begin to study the life of Samuel – how he listens to God.

Social Studies

After completing the Unit 3 test for the Environment , students will study each of the special purpose maps and review their purposes.
