September 23rd – 27th: Objectives and Homework

Check out what we’ll be covering this week!

Literacy:

  • Reading – students will draw conclusions, make inferences and examine character and motives through the short story  ‘Chang and the Bamboo Flute’.
  • Writing – the students will engage in the writing process, develop ideas and use precise vocabulary to complete the revision of their expository essay.
  • Grammar –we will use conjunctions, and work on single sentences and compound sentences.

Next week we are excited to begin Global Read Aloud and begin our first class novel – The Bridge Home

Numeracy:

  • Students will be finishing our review of decimals in place value through rounding, comparing, and computations.
  • Students will review how to find equivalents in decimals and fractions. They will use this information to show in models and then compare and list.

Science:

  • Students will learn the movements of plate tectonics and how those movements change the surface of the earth.
  • Students will also review the scientific method.

Bible:

  • Students will be looking into the life of Joseph.

Social Studies:

  • Students will work on Aztecs, Incas and the early settlers

  • Also – Directions on a map – cardinal and intermediate

Reminders

  1. Friday, 27th September: 1/2 day, NO ASC.
  2. Continue Charleston Wrap, signing up and selling! ends Friday, 27th September.

  1. Pages 12 – 14, Due Friday

Numeracy: Due Friday

  1. Mathletics – Wednesday and Thursday. Students will receive their updates usernames and passwords
  2. If there is any unfinished classwork, they will take it home to complete

Assessments

  1. STAR Math during LAB
  2. Decimals quiz on Wednesday
