Literacy – We spent this week reviewing verbs in the tenses (present tense, past tense and future tense). Students have an upcoming test on Friday February 8th, this will cover verbs in the tenses. The following week students will start learning about helping verbs.
There are no spelling words for this week, instead, please use the time to practice with your child for the test on Friday. Each child has worksheets in their folder that you may use to practice at home.
Students have been carrying out opinion writing in class. They are encouraged to practice writing at home. You can give your child a topic and discuss it orally before he/she begins the writing process.
Reminder – Students will present their oral book summary on Monday. As your child reads, please have him/her write down two words from the book being read. Words must be written in the small booklet provided. Students should take their booklets to school on Tuesdays.
MATH: Students completed 2 summative tests. Corrected papers will be returned to students next week and placed in their portfolios. Students learnt how to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. A test on this will happen next Thursday.
We will be starting the unit on DATA next week and this should be completed in two weeks.
SCIENCE: Students learnt to identify and explain a compound machine. We also revised for the Science test next week.

- Definition of the terms- fulcrum, inclined plane, lever, pulley, screw, simple machine, wedge and work. See glossary on workbook.
- Examples of simple machines. The homework sheets that were returned would have these. Here are a few:

- Students will do pages 432-436 in their workbook, to be returned on Monday for correction in preparation for the test on Wednesday.
PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO MEMORIZE THEIR BIBLE VERSES AND CHECK THEIR AGENDA TO SEE THAT IT IS SIGNED AS AN INDICATION THAT THEY SAID IT.
