Literacy Update, Math Update, Social Studies Update, Science Project reminder and update

Literacy Update

Students learned about Helping verbs and the Special verb ‘To be’. We will continue exploring ‘helping verbs’ this week. Students will continue to practice opinion writing both orally and in writing. 

Literacy homework to be returned Friday March 1, 2019.

Reading tip: At home,when your child is reading, have him/her read aloud to you, paying attention to punctuation and expression. Ask what and why questions. We also use this reading strategy at school.

Social Studies Update

Students appreciate carrying out the in-class research, and gaining first hand knowledge of resources in the Cayman Islands. They will continue the research this week, during their Social Studies session.

Math Update

Students worked on interpreting pictographs and bar graphs.They focused on knowing how to look for what the questions are asking and determine if it is a one step or two step working to get the answer. Students did MATH rotations where they were able to practice their skill using games,technology and textbook type questions.

NO HOMEWORK THIS WEEK.

Science Update

Students looked at how soil is formed and the different layers of soil. See the links below for information shared in class.
