3rd Grade Literacy and Social Studies Work for March 18th

Literacy:

James and the Giant Peach Chapters 7-10: reading and Comprehension

Objectives:

Upon completion of this lesson the student will be able to…

  • Actively listen to a YouTube recording of chapters 11-15 of James and the Giant Peach.
  • Complete comprehension questions based of the book.

Lesson:

  • The students will listen to chapter 7-10 of James and the Giant Peach, following this link:
  • As they listen to the audiobook, the students will type five (5) new words that they will hear from the book. At the end of the audio book the students will research the definition of theses words.
    • This is to help the student strengthen their vocabulary and increase their word bank. Students are the keep these words in a word documents, so that they can continue adding word to it.
    • Students can also make this fun by creating their own flashcards or games to help them remember the meaning of the words.
  • The students will the answer the following comprehension question (in attachments) on James and the Giant Peach. The students will answer the questions, then email it to the teacher.

Assessment:

  • Completing the worksheet appointed by teacher.

Livestock and Food Crops

Objectives:

  • Discuss local farms in Cayman
  • Find out what farmer produce

Lesson:

  • The students will read page 42 in the Cayman Primary Social Studies textbook, then complete activity E.

Assessment:

  • Completing activity E on Word doc.
