Weekly Update

Math – Children continue to build on their number knowledge and learn different strategies to mentally solve addition and subtraction problemsLiteracy – Children continue their book report work.  We are aiming to have our books read and all notes taken by Wednesday, November 10th.  Specific work regarding writing character descriptions and summaries of the book will be done in class.  Reading homework will be based on where the children are at with their book report work. Inquiry (Social Studies).  We start our new Social Studies unit.  We will be focusing on Cayman.  Our Big Question is, what does it mean to be Caymanian?  Children will be doing a variety of activities to learn more about Cayman and find answers to this question.  Field trips are also being organized relating to this topic.  At the end of this unit, the children will be doing a group or individual research (inquiry) project about a chosen aspect of Cayman.Bible – Our whole school Bible memory verse is the 6th commandment, “You shall not murder.” Exodus 20:13.  In class we are also looking at what it means to show respect and be a friend to others.  We are specifically looking at what it means to show love, as stated in 1 Corinthians 13:4 – 8.
