Homework and End of Year Assignments

Even though the year is almost over, there are still assignments and projects that need to be finished.  Every child most present a short video clip about the Olympic Games.  They must state why they chose this video, how it shows the Olympic Spirit and be ready to answer questions from their peers about the video.  I will be grading them on their presentation for their Oral Language grade.  I will also be using work they have done in our Global Awareness topic, research into Argentina and Olympic booklet for their Social Studies grade.  So I ask that parents help remind their children that while the year is almost done, school work still needs to get done.  We will be having one more week of homework (11-15 June) and then we will be done for the year.  Children who have completed all homework assignments this year will be awarded a prize during the week of the 11 – 15 June.

Here’s a reminder of this week’s homework which is in your child’s agenda:

Tuesday – Spelling, Lesson 32, p184-189. Due Friday.

Wednesday – Writing.  Complete the For and Against chart in their writing books.  We will use this information to write a persuasive essay back in class.

Thursday– Complete any unfinished work either in their writing book, Olympic booklet and/or search for a YouTube video about the Olympics.  Most importantly, children have been given their STAR Reading and Math yearly progress chart and this needs to be signed by their parents and returned to school by Friday, 8th of June.  These reports will be kept in their personal portfolios.  Portfolios will be going home in the last week of the school year.
