Week beginning May 13, 2019

Well done to everyone for working so hard during Terra Nova week! You did a great job!

This week, we will be completing our STAR Reading and Math tests. Over the next couple of weeks, the class teachers will be performing the DRA (Diagnostic Reading Assessment) with each child. This is a simple reading and comprehension task to be done individually with the teacher.

Literacy: There will be a spelling test on Thursday this week due to the training day on Friday. Please see the email sent out in the first week of term for this week’s words. This term, we are focusing on our research and report writing skills. The children will be researching a different country each week and learning about life outside of the Cayman Islands.

Numeracy: Adding tens and ones with and without regrouping.

Science: Earth patterns; measuring weather.

Bible: Remember to learn your weekly memory verse and recite it to the teacher when ready. We are looking at the story of Ruth.

PE: Any child who participated in the South Sound Stride this year may wear their blue race tshirt on PE days for the rest of the term. If you would like to purchase a blue tshirt, please contact the school office. This is optional.

Class 1A won the school competition for collecting the most Yello phonebooks. Well done! They will be having a Subway lunch party on Thursday May 16th. Class 1A does not need a packed lunch on Thursday.

Remember that Monday May 20 is a public holiday. No school! See you on Tuesday.
