                                           What Kind of Sentence?

Poetry Writing:  Students will recognize repetition, rhyme, rhythm and onomatopoeia in poetry.

                                  Learn about elements of a poem

Write a sensory poem.

                             A sensory poem, or five-senses poem, describes how a poet perceives what something looks like,

                             tastes like, smells like, feels like, and sounds like. It does not need to rhyme.

Question Poems: Students will choose a topic and write questions about it. It can be rhyming or free verse.

                                     Example: Flower

                                                 Oh, flower

                                                Why are you drooping?

                                                Why are your leaves hanging down?

                                                Why do you look so dry?

                                                Did someone forget to water you?

Five W’s Poem: Students will write a Five W’s Poem

                                 Who?

                                 What?

                                 When?

                                 Where?

                                Why?

 This types of poems will reinforce the topics; Question words and Writing questions.

 

READING GROUPS: Golden Delicious: “Did You See Chip?”

                                            Red Delicious: “All That Corn”

                                            Green Delicious: “Jack and Rick”

 

SPELLING WORDS: Golden: will big ship six hid pick trick wind his this hill fill

                                            Challenge Words: admit blizzard bitter

                                           Green: dot got job jog clock shop hop hot top not block rock

                                            Challenge Words: profit adopt lobster

 

SCIENCE: Topic: Parts of a Plant

                     Students will observe and compare plants.

                      Examine a plant and identify its basic parts.

                     Describe the functions of each part.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES: Natural and Man-made Features

                                        Students should be able to identify the natural and man-made features in their community.

 

BIBLE: Oral Test: The First Family (Cain and Abel) Continues.

                 Topic: Noah Saves His Family

                 Students will dramatize the story of Noah.

 

                Know that Noah was faithful to finish the job of building the ark and was saved from the flood.

 

Memory Verse: For God so loved the word that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him

                                 shall not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16

NB. Parents, please ensure that your child studies the Memory verse. Remember

there is a reward for the first students who know the memory verse.
