Forced to Add More Points!

Well, well, well…I have a few students who have gone beyond 100 points, forcing me to add more points to our Accelerated Reader system. YIPPEE! Well done to all of you who are constantly reading!A special OORAH for Daniel who has almost made it to 300 points! WOW! Well done Dan!  Let’s keep up the amazing work!

Recycled Art

In Grade 4, we love making art out of recycled materials. Not only are we helping out the environment, but we are creating fantastic art as well.                 

Open House

Hero’s Day Assembly

I wanted to take a moment to say how very proud I am of all of my Grade 4 students! They all did an unbelievably, amazing job and the ENTIRE school loved their performance! A special thank you to every parent as well, for working so hard to ensure that your child/children rehearsed their lines for the skit and for the song. I am currently working on uploading a link for you guys to see and be proud as well! 🙂

Objectives and Homework for February 4-8, 2013

English – Capitalize proper nouns that name places and things.

          Capitalize and punctuate abbreviations for titles, addresses, months and days.

Homework: Wednesday: page 78

Math – Multiply a 3-digit number by a 2-digit number.

 

          Choose the best strategy to solve problems.

 

          Multiply 4 and 5 digit numbers by a 2-digit number.

 

Homework: – Monday: page 130 (Pegasus:1-15, 21-22,  Leopards: 1-10, 21 and Dragons 1-6, 21)

 

– Tuesday: page 130 130 (Pegasus:16-20,  Leopards: 11-20 and Dragons 7-16)

 

 

– Students will be given additional time to practice using Mathletics and http://www.quia.com/mathjourney.html. We will also be playing various math games to increase students’ fluency and speed in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

 

Number the Stars – We will continue reading Number the Stars. Each week we will be reading in class and doing chapter quizzes. Students are allowed to re-read what we have covered in class, but I ask that they do no read ahead unless they have been given special permission to do so. Continue to ask your child/children questions on what we have read in class and allow them to summarize and describe different events in detail and in order.

Science – Explain how biotic and abiotic factors affect ecosystems.

          Describe how climate affects ecosystems.

Homework: – Study Bible Verse for Friday. (Parents, please encourage your child/children to study and memorize his/her Bible verse. This counts towards their end of term Bible grade.)
