  • Follow along as we read pages 3 – 7, together during our live classes
  • STOP AND THINK:
  • A. What kind of person can you infer that Mr. Twit is? (To infer means to make a guess based on facts and observations.)
  • B. What simile does the author use to describe the hair around Mr. Twit’s mouth?
  • C. How does this comparison help you visualize Mr. Twit’s beard?

  • Work with Ms. Suckoo to complete the following:
  • Directions: Choose adjectives that you can infer about the characters using text evidence. For instance, if you would describe the character as “nice” what clues from the text allow you to make that inference? Remember: Inference = Text Evidence + Schema

ACTIVITY 1: [DURING LIVE LESSON]

  • In our first writing lesson, we will create a collaborative story.
  • This means we will have ONE story that everyone will get a chance to add to.
  • We will start with “Once upon a time,” (or something a bit more creative and then everyone will take turns adding to it by each adding a sentence. 
  • I will type out our story as we say it until we come to an amazing ending
  • Then, we will read through our story and see how easy it is to write. After all, writing is just putting your thoughts down on paper.
