Objectives and Lesson Plans – February 20-24, 2017

DRESS FOR CULTURE DAY is this Friday!

As part of this year’s Cayfest, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) has invited First Baptist Christian School (and schools across the Cayman Islands) to join hands with them by participating in Dress for Culture Day. This year, Dress for Culture Day will be held on Friday, February 24th (the last Friday of the month).
By donating $3, children will be able to positively impact the lives of other children. The CNCF supports local children and young people by providing creative outlets that have a local and global reach, such as Young at Arts, Summer Arts Camp and Young Image Makers, Cultural Internships and more.

Through working together to celebrate our similarities and differences, we can have a more significant impact on our development as human beings and the growth of the nation.

Because of Winn-DixieA classic tale by Newbery Medalist Kate DiCamillo, America’s beloved storyteller. One summer’s day, ten-year-old India Opal Buloni goes down to the local supermarket for some groceries – and comes home with a dog. But Winn-Dixie is no ordinary dog. It’s because of Winn-Dixie that Opal begins to make friends. And it’s because of Winn-Dixie that she finally dares to ask her father about her mother, who left when Opal was three. In fact, as Opal admits, just about everything that happens that summer is because of Winn-Dixie. Featuring a new cover illustration by E. B. Lewis and an excerpt of Kate DiCamillo’s newest novel, Raymie Nightingale.

Math Karate

Dear Parents,

Next week we will be starting Math Karate. Students will earn belts by completing Multiplication Fact Drills in at least 5 minutes. They will have at least five minutes to complete each page and must master the white belt before moving to yellow, etc. Students should have their Math Folder in their school-bags to review multiplication tables and for you to keep up with any ‘belt upgrades’.

Please let me know if you have any questions! And remember…A black belt is a white belt that never gave up! 😉
