Snowball Fight

Yes, you read the title correctly. And nope, I haven’t lost my marbles. We really did have a snowball fight in the classroom. Although…we didn’t use actual snow…we used crushed up paper! Before we took aim and threw our snowballs into the air however, we had to write down some sort of detail about ourselves on the piece of paper. This clue would help whichever classmate found our snowball to guess who the creator of the snowball was. Sounds simple? I think so. Sounds fun? Most definitely! Enjoy some of the photos I was able to capture!

Proud Mama

I just wanted to take a few moments to brag about what a wonderful grade 4 class I have and be a little ‘mushy’. 🙂 They are such an amazing group of children…each bringing their own unique gifts and ideas. This has become even more apparent throughout our practicing of “We Are the World”. Doing this song has allowed all of us to realize how truly blessed we are. With the help of this song, we have had a lot of remarkable and touching conversations…helping us to be more empathetic towards the struggles and hardships of others. Thank you parents, for sharing and trusting First Baptist Christian School with your child/children.

God Bless,

Ms. Suckoo

Arawaks and Caribs Project

Dear Parents,

Fourth grade has been learning about the Caribs and the Arawaks for Social Studies. We have been learning about how they lived, how they built their huts, what they used for transportation, what tools they used to hunt with andso forth.

Our project now is to build a diorama or a model on some aspect of their life. This will be due on February 11, 2013. The word diorama refers to a three-dimensional model. One of the great things about a diorama is the variety of ways to display it. The Display is part of the fun and appeal of a diorama. Here are some ideas for making your diorama or model:

Ideas on the Subject of your diorama:

  • A Carib or Arawak hunting or fishing
  • A village
  • A scene with a Carib or Arawak lady cooking
  • A sea scene with Carib canoes or boats

Ideas on the Subject of your model:

  • A canoe
  • A hut
  • Pottery
  • A tool used to hunt or farm with (please note that your tool is not to include any sharp materials that can actually be used to hunt – we will use our imagination for this one)

Remember; do not feel limited to this list of idea. Encourage your children to get creative and have fun! I’m excited to see what they come up with.

Sincerely,

Ms. Suckoo

Hero’s Day Assembly

 Dear Parents,

Grade 4 has been given the opportunity to lead the assembly on January 30th at 12:30. Hero’s Day iscelebrated in January as well, so we have decided to focus our assembly on heroes (What does it mean to be a hero? Who can be a hero? How can we be a Hero?)

We will be performing  a short skit  entitled ‘Moses’ Helping Hands’ as well as singing ‘We Are the World’.  We chose the song ‘We Are the World’ because the message is centered on everyone doing their part to help others.

I hope you will be able to attend this very special and very exciting assembly. Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you will be able to assist on this day.

Thanks again for all that you do.

Sincerely,

Ms. Suckoo

Our Christmas Party

My sincerest apologies for being so tardy with uploading the Christmas party photos. We had a blast as we sipped hot chocolate, dined on some yummy treats and watched the Polar Express. A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make our party a smashing success!
