Welcome to Grade 4!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Fourth Grade Family! My name is Tessa Suckoo and I have been teaching at First Baptist Christian School for the past four years. As a Caymanian, I am delighted to have the opportunity to live and teach in Grand Cayman. I grew up Cayman Brac where I completed my high school years and then moved over to the ‘Big City- Grand Cayman’. I pursued my love of art and earned my Associate’s Degree in Social Studies so that I could then go on to complete my Bachelor’s Degree from the Miami International University of Art and Design (Art Institute) in Graphic Design. Following this, I continued onto my dream of becoming an educator and I obtained my Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University College of the Cayman Islands.

I am a mother of two; 6 year old Caleb and 2 year old Hannah. Since I am both a parent of a First Baptist student and a teacher, I feel very strong ties to the church and school. Teaching and attending church here with such an amazing group of people allows me to work on hearts and minds, to guide people in becoming God centered, empowered, literate, engaged and creative individuals.

I am a passionate teacher who truly believes that all children are born with the ability to learn and grow. I believe that every child is different, and because of this, I strive to meet every child where they are at. Children need to realize that being different is to be celebrated, and that the ability to ‘think outside the box’ is truly an amazing gift. I try to instill morals and ethics into all of my students and encourage them to positively collaborate with workmates, and solve problems. I help and inspire them to try their utmost best and to keep reaching for the stars. “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13” It is my job a teacher to tap into a child’s passions and strengths and motivate them to do better and to continue to dream big.

I try to make my classroom environment stimulating, loving and fun. My classroom is their home away from home, and because of this, I try to make all of my students feel comfortable and secure; a place where they are able to freely ask questions, have fun while learning and be themselves.

I would like to encourage you to visit the fourth grade blog and view some of the things that your child will be doing when he/she comes over. Thank you for allowing me to become a part of your child’s life. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to come in and talk with me. I am excited for what the next year will bring us. God bless.

Yours Truly,

Ms. Suckoo
