English – We will be doing Unit reviews this week in English, so there will be no homework.
Math –Multiply a whole number by a multiple of 10.
– Estimate products by rounding.
– Explore multiplying by 2-digit numbers.
Homework: – Monday: page 120 (Pegasus – 1-15, Leopards 1-10 and Dragons 1-5)
– Tuesday: page 120 (Pegasus – 16-30, Leopards 11-23 and Dragons 6-15)
– Students will be given additional time to practice using Mathletics and http://www.quia.com/mathjourney.html. We will also be playing various math games to increase students’ fluency and speed in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Number the Stars – We started our new novel study this week called Number the Stars. Each week we will be reading in class and doing chapter quizzes. Students are allowed to re-read what we have covered in class, but I ask that they do no read ahead unless they have been given special permission to do so. Continue to ask your child/children questions on what we have read in class and allow them to summarize and describe different events in detail and in order.
Spelling Homework – Study for Spelling Test on Friday.

Science – Explain how living and non-living parts interact.
– Define population and community.
– Explain how biotic and abiotic factors affect ecosystems.
Social Studies Homework: – Arawaks and Caribs project. Due February 11, 2013
Bible – Complete a dialogue related to God’s powerful love.
– Identify additional attributes to God’s evidence in Scripture.
Homework: – Study Bible Verse for Friday. (Parents, please encourage your child/children to study and memorize his/her Bible verse. This counts towards their end of term Bible grade.)
