I just wanted to fill you guys in on a new novel that we’re reading during our ‘Silent Reading’ time… Reading has really become a passion of ours in Grade 4, so as a means of ‘fanning that reading flame’, we are taking a few minutes each day to read ‘The Tiger Rising‘ by Kate DiCamillo. Since we are reading it as a class, they will also be able to get AR points from it once we’re finished. I want them to see the pure enjoyment of reading, so they will not be required to complete any graded book report.
It is really a lovely book, so feel free to ask your child about it in the evenings, or even take the plunge and read it yourself if you have the time. 🙂
