Objectives and Homework for September 21-25, 2015

StoryTown/English: – Listen critically and respond appropriately to oral communication.

– Build robust vocabulary.

– Identify subjects and predicates.

– Read a variety of literary texts.

– Recognize features of a narrative poem.

– Recognize comparison and contrast in texts.

– Compare and contrast characters.

– Form ideas about a literary text and support those ideas with specific details from the text.

– Distinguish between homophones by using sentence context.

Spelling: – Study for our Spelling Test this Friday. (Words were handed out today and should be in your child’s homework folder.)

Math: – Chapter 1 Test on Tuesday.

– Use ‘+’ and ‘-‘ rules to add and subtract.

Science: – Make a model of a backbone.

– Describe characteristics of vertebrates and invertebrates.

Social Studies: – Identify differences and similarities between urban and rural life.

– Describe different ways to earn a living in the Caribbean.

Bible: – Study Bible verse for Friday. Parents, please encourage your child to study their Bible verse every week. These do impact their Bible grades.

– Identify examples of adding and taking away from God’s word.

– Identify four important ways the Bible is useful.

READ:  Read for 30 minutes. You will orally describe what you read about to the class.
