Numeracy Around the World!

FRACTION PARADE!                                                                                            When: Friday, January 25th!                                                                                                   Where/Time: In the gym @ 8:15am                                                                                                   What do I wear?: It is not a regular dress down day, students are only to wear the colors of the flag they’ve chosen. Dress code policy still applies.

It is amazing to know that so many of our students have come from other parts in the world or have travelled all around. Since we have been studying Fractions, we are taking that knowledge to find fractions in our worlds’ flags! Students will vote on a country’s flag in class and then dress up in those colors on Friday for the Fraction Parade!

4A: They are doing individual flags! As a class they decided to try a variety of countries, can’t wait to see them all together. Do you think you can guess which ones?!

4B: South Africa – please dress in colors to coincide with the South African Flag!

4B voted on South Africa, so will wear colors that coincide.

EXAMPLES

For example, how many parts is this flag divided in to? how many parts are solid red or mixed with red, white and blue?
In the stripped area, how many are red or white?
