Reading Week – Day 2

The focus of Day 2 for Reading Week was Far Flutterby, by Karen Kingsbury. We started the day off by watching and listening to it being read to us in Chapel. This lovely book is about the struggles that a little, ordinary caterpillar faces before being transformed into a beautiful butterfly. We discussed the significance that this plays in our life, in that the struggles that we go through, should help to strengthen not only our faith, but our dependence on God.

The struggle, is what gives you wings!” Far Flutterby

Then, we focused an art lesson on colorful butterflies, along with the verse:

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

We also took our thoughts about Random Acts of Kindness (ARK) and turned them into an action. 🙂 Ask your child/children to explain how we did this. 🙂 (A special thank you to Elijah for providing the ‘treats’.)

We ended the day with a bit of silent reading (please remind your child/children to continue to update their reading log with the number of pages that he/she has read daily).

We also got a head start on tomorrow’s Reading Week focus, and wrote down our favorite Bible verse. Please help your child/children to attach it (tape or pin) it to their P.E. uniform tomorrow.
