Objectives and Homework – November 13-16

READING

We’re finishing off A Boy Called Bat this week! Now, we’ll be sharing, reflecting and getting creative on what we’ve read.

GRAMMAR

  • Form the past tense of verbs, including those ending with e, those ending with a single vowel and a consonant, and those ending with a consonant and y.
  • Proofread for spelling of past tense verbs.
  • Identify and write past tense verbs with the helping verbs has, have, or had, with singular or plural subjects.
  • Proofread a poem for helping verbs with past tense verbs.

WRITING

We are continuing our work on Personal Narratives. Personal narratives have:

  • Strong leads or beginnings
  • Characters (with lots of description)
  • Descriptive setting
  • Dialogue
  • Details to build your narrative up
  • Closing

SPELLING

Everyone should be busy studying for Spelling Mania this Friday. Please help your child get sponsors for this. The money raised will go back into our literacy programmes at school.

MATH

Metric system learning to estimate and convert measurements. 

SOCIAL STUDIES

We’ll be taking a break from our family tree/mapping to learn about the Cayman Coat of Arms to celebrate the 60th anniversary of it’s history and symbolism.

SCIENCE

Finishing our study on the life cycle of plants.
