• Complete the attached student response template, discussing:
• Trait: Organization (organizing your thoughts into paragraphs):
• Last week, you came up with the name and details for your superhero.
• In this pre-writing stage, you will begin to organize your ideas for the beginning, middle, and end of your descriptive narrative. During this stage you should think about how you will logically connect your paragraphs through transitions. (Remember your transitional words and phrases!)
• This second stage for writing a descriptive narrative focuses on organization. Using short phrases or point form notes, begin to jot down some ideas for the beginning, middle, and end of your narrative.
• Beginning: Think about how you will introduce the characters and the problem, setting, and sensory details.
  (Will you write in 1st or 3rd person? How will you introduce the problem?  )
• Middle: What events will lead to solving the problem in the middle, are there any setback or character weaknesses?
  (What are some of the plot events that will take place in the middle of the story? How will they help develop character and lead towards solving the problem?)
• Ending: The resolution of the story in the end, reminding the reader of the character’s strength and lesson learned (reflection)
  (How will you solve the problem? How will the story end?)

• To add decimals, follow these steps:
• Write down the numbers, one under the other, with the decimal points lined up.
• Put in zeros so the numbers have the same length.
• Then add using column addition, remembering to put the decimal point in the answer.
• To subtract, follow the same method: line up the decimals, then subtract.

• Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System and is the fifth planet from the sun.
• It is more than 300 times more massive than Earth and is more than two times as massive than all the other planets combined.
• Jupiter is called a gas giant planet.
• Jupiter’s surface is very violent with massive hurricane-like storms, winds, thunder and lightning. One storm on Jupiter, called the Great Red Spot, is three times the size of earth.
